The VanDevere Bunch Goes to Bat for Barberton Diamond Sports

Akron, Feb. 21, 2018 – The VanDevere Bunch is partnering with the Barberton Diamond Sports in Barberton. The VanDevere Bunch has joined forces with the national Chevrolet Youth Baseball program to provide new equipment, invitations to FREE instructional clinics, and an opportunity for community members to earn donations for their league via a Test Drive fundraiser.

“Playing the game of baseball helps kids develop skills like leadership, cooperation and sportsmanship while bringing families and communities together to show their support. The VanDevere Bunch and Chevrolet Youth Baseball are proud to participate in a sport that brings so many smiles to kids and families in Akron.” said Lori Sams, Marketing Director for The VanDevere Bunch. “Chevrolet believes that in play, there are possibilities and supports the spirit of teamwork that baseball instills in its players.”

2018 marks Chevrolet’s Youth Baseball program’s 13th year, and since its introduction has helped aid local teams, benefiting more than 12.4 million young people in communities where Chevrolet’s customers live, work and play. In 2017, more than 1,500 Chevrolet dealers participated across the country.

The VanDevere Bunch will present an equipment kit that includes useful items such as batpacks, scorebooks, industrial-strength batting tees, ball buckets and T-shirts. The sponsorship also includes youth clinics featuring current and former MLB/MiLB players and coaches, or instructors from Ripken Baseball.

In addition, The VanDevere Bunch will present a check representing a one-time monetary contribution to Barberton Diamond Sports. Sponsored leagues across the country will have the chance to earn additional funds as community members take test drives at their partnering dealership to help support the league.

In addition to its commitment to youth baseball, Chevrolet also is the Official Vehicle of Major League Baseball™.

“Chevrolet vehicles are designed and built for families, safety and fun, so we encourage young people and their parents to make a Chevrolet the official vehicle of their household,” said Sams.

Easter Basket Brigade

Please join the VanDevere team in collecting items for Easter Baskets for children in foster care here in Summit County.  Each month we choose a charity to support.  For the month of March we have selected Summit County Children’s Services.  Each year they count on donations to fill festive Easter Baskets to brighten the lives of  foster children.  We are concentrating on their area of greatest need for our collections:  Newborns and Boys ages 5-12.  Some ideas for donations include:

Soft, cuddly stuffed animals, infant care items such as – bibs, rattles, pacifiers, sleepers, baby lotion, baby powder, baby shampoo, hair brush and comb sets and sippy cups.

Boys ages 5-12:

Candy/chocolate bunnies, assorted wrapped candy, coloring/activity books, small stuffed animals, small sports balls, small outdoor toys and animated toys.

Please join us in collecting items to brighten up Easter for these children.  Any items would be greatly appreciated and put to good use – if you prefer to donate items for little girls and items not listed that would be fine as there is a great need for all items.  Thank you in advance for your generous donations!

Thanks For Your Generosity!

Once again our monthly Jeans Day benefitting the Battered Women's Shelter of Summit and Medina Counties was a huge success.  We collected enough supplies to fill eight large boxes to capacity!  In addition, we collected cash donations totalling just under $300.00 which will be used to buy additional supplies.  Thank you to all the VanDevere employees who give so generously each month!  We have a great team here!
